In order for wines to mature and the flavors to fully develop, it is important that the temperature remains constant and at an optimal level.

As a general rule, red wines should be kept between 12ºC to 19ºC, and white wines between 8ºC to 12ºC.

The Riserva wine cellars offers a temperature of between  5ºC to 12ºC and 12ºC to 22ºC in separate compartments, allowing you to set the ideal temperature for different types of wines.

DUAL TEMPERATURE STORAGE

Delicate liquids like wines are often stored in dark coloured glass bottles, and this is to reduce the amount of light penetrating the bottle to deteriorate the wine.

As light is the greatest enemy of wine, all Riserva models are fitted with triple-ply Anti-UV doors and anti-UV LEDs so that  UV light exposure is kept to a minimum to preserve your wines.

Triple-ply door will also reduce condensation in our warm climate when the temperature inside the wine cellar is much colder than the ambient temperature.

TRIPLE PLY ANTI-UV DOORS

A constant temperature and relative humidity of 60-65% are ideal for long-term wine storage. The cool temperature slows the aging process, while the high humidity prevents moisture inside the wine bottle from moving into the cork and eventually evaporating into the air.

The humidity level in the Riserva collection is maintained at between 60% to 65% for this purpose.

CONSTANT HUMIDITY LEVEL

One reason why wines have to be stored horizontally in the natural underground wine cellar is for the sediments to be distributed evenly, apart from keeping the cork moist too. These sediments are to be moved at its own pace for the wine to mature well.

Constant vibrations and movements from common fridges’ compressors would therefore hinder this sedimentation process.

Thus, all Riserva models are equipped with Beech wooden shelves instead of wire racks to reduce vibration when bottles are moved or when the door is being opened or closed.

A silent inverter cooling compressor is mounted on anti-shock absorbers to prevent any vibrations and for silent operations.

BEECH WOOD SHELVES & SILENT COMPRESSOR TO REDUCE VIBRATIONS

Carbon filters are added into the wine cellars to remove any extraneous odours as these can enter the wine through the cork and contaminate it.

Our wine racks are also made of premium oak wood or beech wood, as the aromatics from pine or cedar may destroy the wines.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FILTERS

All Riserva models are equipped with a air cooling system which offers natural air ventilation throughout the wine cellars.

For built in models, the air is drawn in from the front of the wine cellar, allowing perfect integration into cabinetries.

2-IN-1 BEVERAGE & WINE CHILLER

All Bodega wine cellars use only R600a gas, also known as CARE® 10.  It is a refrigerant grade Isobutane, a natural refrigerant suitable for use in a range of refrigeration applications.

R600a has low environmental impact and excellent thermodynamic performance and it is now the refrigerant gas of choice in domestic and small commercial refrigerators. It is non-toxic with zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and very low GWP (Global Warming Potential).

All our wine cellars are also energy efficient and consumes very low electricity.
